The U symbol stands for universal. A U film is suitable for audiences aged four years and older. It can sometimes affect the child depending on what film it is or if the child is emotionally stable. In films which are listed as U are only allowed very infrequent use of mild language such as 'danm' and 'hell'.
Characters may be seen kissing or cuddling and there be references to sexual behavior but it is very unlikely and you would be able to tell what it would be like before you saw the film, such as in a trailer and the parents or careers know what their child is able to handle.
