Preliminary Task:
When doing our preliminary task we found it quite successful whilst filming and editing. The reason the filming was successful was because we did close ups on shots on something that the two main characters were going to do. For examples as Hannah opened the door we did a close up of her hand approaching the handle which gave the effect that the audience know they are suppose to focus on that part to make them think "what is behind that door?" and "what is going to happen next?" The filming was adequate as we got a range of shots such as close ups, medium shots and long shots which all give off a really good effect and it gives a range of things to look at. We then filmed Hannah and myself talking which we successfully used the shot reverse shot, we did this by filming one person looking into the camera and talking and then we did the other person, we then edited it by putting the shots together showing they were having a conversation which each other. We also included the match on action which was effect as it flowed easily when cutting corners and the audience can clearly see that it was a constant scene. This was due to editing the clips to make it flow better and make it easier for the audience to watch.
Next time to make it better I would probably video the scene twice to make sure that the actors in the clips know what they are doing so there are not pauses. Also when it comes to editing we could improve by adding in non diegetic sound which may create more tension and draw the audience in. There are also editing skills such as adding transitions for the ending and start, this will make it more professional and show our skills whilst editing.
The skills which we are going to do to improve our main task will be to make sure we are more serious whilst filming so that it looks more professional and make the scene more believable. For example, when Hannah didn't do her homework she didn't seem shocked and I didn't seem very surprised that she had not done it so it was not that believable. We could also use a camera tripod so the camera can be as still as possible and make the filming to a higher standard.
We only really used the shot reverse shot and match on action shot. The shot reverse shot was effective because it showed a conversation and it looked like the actor was actually talking to someone which made it very realistic. The match on action shot is very effective because it makes the scene flow making it successful and enjoyable to watch.
