The 180 rule the rule states that the camera should stay on one side of the imaginary line. This rule should never be broken the only defence you have when breaking this rude is for effect, if you do break this rule it can cause confusion with the audience.



Shot reverse shot this is a technique which establishes the relationship between two characters. It is an over the shoulder shot which shows the characters acting or reacting.



The 30 degree rule used in film making with the purpose of creating continuity between different shots within a larger sequence of shot.



Match on action is a very simple but essential technique, where the perspective of the camera changes during a scene and the scene continues to flow.


Rule of thirds is a concept in video and film production in which the frame is divided into nine imaginary sections, as illustrated on the right. This creates reference points which act as guides for framing the image.
